Michael France, a punk car thief doing 5 years at the Central Florida State Facility, while working on a work crew decided to take off and make a run for it. The idiot, not knowing his way around, ended up spending the night in the woods of Saint Cloud, and was finally caught almost 24 hours after his attempted getaway by Osceola Sheriff's deputies! Now the idiot will face attempted escape charges which should add a few extra years on to his original 5 year sentence. Great job by Law Enforcement, once again. Besides taking over the County jail, perhaps the Sheriff's office should look at taking over the state facility as well!!
At approximately 1 p.m., Michael France was located without incident by Osceola County Sheriff's deputies in a wooded area near the Church of the St. Luke and St. Peter, 2745 Canoe Creek Road.
No shocking surprises at the Kissimmee City Commission meeting as the majority turned down the attempt at cleaning up the way KUA Manager Jim Welch selects his board members. Yes, the board that's supposed to oversee the KUA operation, to an extent, including supervising him. Must be nice to be able to select your own bosses. Typical in the vote was Jim swan who saw no reason to change the system. Speaking against the proposed change, FORMER city mayor George Gant spoke in favor of the way the system currently operates. He also now serves on the KUA board. (lol) Only City Commissioner Jerry Gemskie sided with Art Otero to make the change on board selection. The remaining three opposed. Another change was agreed upon by all city commissioners to change the residency requirement and change from being a city resident, to a resident living in a home using KUA services.
Today's BOCC agenda will have the county legal department getting the commission's okay to begin eviction on one of the Makinson daughters for failing to follow through on, what we called, a very sweetheart deal. You'll remember when the county purchased the property she's residing in for a nice sum of money. At the end of the project the property the king's jesters THOUGHT they needed, was not needed. So, the county decided to offer the property back and an even better deal than the original. Problem? We can only guess the money received for the property in the first county deal is gone, or close to it. Stalling for quite awhile, the county really has no option other than to evict, or give the property to Ms. Makinson, which is not going to happen.
We wanted to hold out until Friday but there's just too much going on, as usual!
The BOCC workshop and meeting on Monday was an eye opener, or should have been, to just about anyone residing in the County, even a couple Commissioners! Unfortunately, it seems they just let stuff go by and maybe, rightfully so.
