Deanna Merrill, the candidate wannabe in St Cloud, was booked late Thursday afternoon on charges of giving false statements.This will be one of the very first arrests coming from election based complaints.
You may remember she wanted to run, and indeed filed some paperwork to run, for a seat on the city council against Mrs. Mickey Hopper. Turns out Merrill was/is not a U.S. citizen and the charges stemmed from her political filings.She had been requested to provide proof of citizenship and failed to do so after she signed the oath, it's alleged.
I just found out some other computer stores are charging a ridiculously high price (over $150) for installing a wireless adapter and connecting St. Cloud residents to the "free" Cyber-Spot Broadband connection offered to the community. I don't want to name the company, or point my fingers, however I do want to get the word out about a better solution.
These guys have been serving the community for over 12 years. A great deal of you will remember their shop towards the end of town by Big Lots, but now they have opened up their new location in the Cumberland Farms Shopping Plaza about mid-town.
They are running a nice special until the end of September, 2007 where you can take your tower into them and purchase a wireless adapter (at very reasonable rates in my opinion) and they will not only install it and set it up to work with the "free" broadband connection, but they will scan for and remove any viruses, trojans, malware, spyware, etc., and make sure your computer has the latest security updates and service packs.
How much you ask?
Only $25 + the cost of the wireless adapter!
Give Cyber Tex a call, send them an email or head on in and don't forget to tell them KSIB sent you!
You can find their contact information on netkafe:

Thursday evening, beginning 6:30PM, if you're a St Cloud resident you'll want to make it to the KUA headquarters at 1701 W. Carroll Street, Kissimmee for a first. This will be the first time candidates will gather to debate AND answer questions from members of the audience.
ALL the St Cloud candidates will be there, including;
Wade Davis, Jeffry Krotts, Karen Rodriguez, Jonathan Harrell, and Tom Griffin. All are residents of the city and all qualified to be on the ballot.
With The Preserve, an apartment housing complex, as a hot item in the city, you can be sure there will be questions, and perhaps, some straight answers regarding this apartment project.
St Cloud's Tom Griffin, who is running for Seat 2 in the city of St Cloud had a gathering of friends and supporters this past Tuesday evening. During this gathering Griffin publically stated he was opposed to the location that developers want to locate a controversial housing project, The Preserve. Griffin may have actually picked up some several hundred votes by that statement.
