An Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured early Saturday morning after his marked patrol vehicle was hit by another vehicle in Orange County.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. at the intersection of John Young Parkway and Town Center Boulevard.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Edgar Rodriguez, 23, of Kissimmee was attempting to make a left turn from southbound John Young Parkway to eastbound Town Center Boulevard and struck a marked Osceola County Sheriff’s Office vehicle driven by Deputy Christopher Pye.

FHP said the impact of the crash pushed Deputy Pye’s patrol vehicle into a concrete light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.
Deputy Pye, 23, was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee where he is in serious condition.
Troopers said witnesses told them the deputy had a green light.
Rodriguez was arrested for DUI.

Erika No Longer a Threat: National Hurricane Center

Osceola County, Florida — Osceola County officials have returned the Emergency Operations Center to its normal level, monitoring, after the National Hurricane Center has advised that Tropical Storm Erika has dissipated and is currently not a threat to Florida.

All sandbag locations will close at 6 p.m. today, including in St. Cloud and Kissimmee.

Officials for the county and cities remind residents of the importance of hurricane preparedness and to have a plan in place to keep their families safe during the hurricane season that lasts through Nov. 30.

Residents should remain aware, as early next week the storm could reform and bring heavy rains and threat of tornadoes.

Our prayers are with Deputy Pye and his family. We're hopeful the young and drunk driver will see a courtroom and not get a pass from Ashton!

lololololol prayers--ugh--prayers don't make one person live, another die, one child to be fed, another to starve, one person to be killed by a drunk driver, one to avoid a drunk driver, one athlete to get a home run or catch a pass and another not to... lunacy.

Hope the guy does well. ANd that's the reality.
