We're Told, 'So What If Harford Gave To Muslims'/ Was Carl "Inflammatory"?, Links For Veteran's Day Added Benefits, more......

Posted on | November 1st, 2015 |  by Carl Cricket in Local Politics

Okay, we'll get right into it since the topic appears to be fresh on a few minds. Last week we used the word Muslim in the Title and now we stand accused of trying to be "inflammatory" in the title. Could be. What we actually attempted, as pointed out in the blog, was to draw attention to your tax dollars going to religious groups instead of you. IF others, and there are, had a problem with the blog, so be it. No matter the protests, the fact remains that your tax dollars are being given away to religious groups which is a clear violation of the church and state statute. We do not want our tax dollars going to any cause we may not support, be it Muslim, Hispanic, Catholic, or Hebrew! We believe Mr. Harford's giving was NOT in line with the intent of the law. As we had clearly stated last week, we opposed such giving of tax dollars, no matter the name, no matter the religion. Inflammatory? Hardly, but at least some people noticed, and that's a good thing!

Speaking of Mr. Harford, his campaign is chugging along with donations from folks outside of Osceola County. In fact, 9 of the 17 listed donations are from outside of Osceola County. It also appears that Osceola County is suffering from a shortage of web consultants, since Mr. Harford gave $200.00 to Michael Tessler, of Port Jefferson, NY for his web consulting.
One of Mr. Harford's challengers, Peggy Choudhry, has listed not one donation or expense, in her quest to defeat Mr. Harford. Some may remember Ms. Choudhry as a former member of the West 192 beautification group, who had resigned from the group, no doubt to consider her political future. However, she does currently list the group as one of many committees she 'currently' serves upon. If you're confused, so are we, but the information is posted on the Supervisor of Elections web pages, under local candidates.
CORRECTION: Here's the entire statement posted on the SOE's web page!

Candidate's Statement

The citizens of Osceola County deserve a responsible, transparent county government that looks out for the interests of working families. That is why Peggy Choudhry decided to run for Osceola County Commission. Her goal is to bring more jobs and greater opportunities to our community, to protect our environment, and to ensure Osceola is a safe place to live and raise a family.

After years of service to civic and charitable organizations in Osceola County, Mrs. Choudhry has decided to make her first bid for public office. “I want to give back to a community that has given me so much,” declared Choudhry, “I am running because I want to help the people of Osceola County achieve the American Dream!”

Choudhry is a graduate of Rhode Island College. After college, she took a position with the US Department of Homeland Security as an Immigration Officer and within a short time was promoted to Adjudications Officer with Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Orlando district office. After several years of service with Federal Law Enforcement, Peggy decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a business owner.

Peggy Choudhry successfully owned and managed a small hotel on US192 in District 1 for over nine years. Currently, Mrs. Choudhry is the President of Hospitality Sidekicks; a consulting firm that helps small hotels find success.

Helping others is a passion for Choudhry. She is an active board member in many organizations around the community including: Experience Kissimmee, Osceola Historical Society, Hispanic Business Council, Osceola Resort Area Council and the US192 Hotel Motel Association. She also volunteers for non-profit organizations across Osceola County and continues to give countless hours of community service work in performance arts programs in places such as La Plaza Del Sol in Kissimmee. “I have enjoyed working to make positive changes in my county and would like to continue doing so on a bigger scale,” said Choudhry.

Peggy became a Feinstein Scholar in 1994 showing her Compassion, integrity, leadership, and dedication to public service early on. Peggy has always been dedicated to helping others.

Peggy is a proud Democrat living in West Osceola County where she has been a resident for 12 years. She has been married to her husband Ziaur for over 14 years and together they have a 9 year-old daughter Athena.

"To Help Better The Lives Of Others Is The Greatest Of All Achievements" Alan Shawn Feinstein.

Either way, our opinion is she'll need to begin collecting donations soon if she wants to compete with an incumbent!
**It should be noted that this candidate will be holding a fundraiser at: The Bohemian Celebration Hotel on November 19th beginning at 5:30PM. We've received comments from several people cautioning this event because of many, who are registered Republicans and serving on the host committee. **We mention this because the candidate is a Democrat and we can only wonder why these Republicans would cross the aisle, so to speak**. We'll share some of the names with you next blog but to say the words Cigar Club comes to mind when reading the list. Looks like Mr. Harford hasn't pleased everyone!

That's the short and the long of it for this week. We do wish everyone a very safe and healthy week, and may God bless you all!

City of Kissimmee Celebrates Groundbreaking Ceremony of Intermodal Center Garage

Kissimmee, Fla (October 27, 2015) - The City of Kissimmee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Intermodal Center Parking Garage today, behind the Civic Center in historic downtown Kissimmee.
The Kissimmee Intermodal Center Garage is a multi-use parking garage that is being constructed in support of the SunRail commuter train platform located immediately to the West of the project site. The new 400-space garage will also provide additional parking for the Kissimmee Civic Center, as well as for special events held downtown and at the Kissimmee Lakefront Park. Work on the garage will begin in November 2015 and the project is expected to be complete by the end of 2016, to coordinate with the opening of the downtown Kissimmee SunRail station.
“Over the last ten years, our federal government, the Florida Department of Transportation and our local counties and cities have come together to make SunRail a reality. This garage is one of the remaining pieces of this project and will be beneficial to thousands of residents and guests of our City for years to come” said City of Kissimmee Mayor Jim Swan.
The overall design of the new garage will reflect the historic Florida train depot aesthetic of the new Kissimmee SunRail station, while also complimenting the overall architectural style of historic downtown Kissimmee. The project is a new 4-tier, above grade, open parking garage structure, with a reinforced concrete foundation. The $10 million dollar project will be completed by the end of next year and is being built in thanks to a partnership between the City of Kissimmee, the Florida Department of Transportation/SunRail and Osceola County.
For more information on the Kissimmee Intermodal Center Garage or the City of Kissimmee, please contact the Public Information Office at 407.518.2314 or email pio@kissimmee.org.

No matter how we feel about SunRail its coming even tough the BOCC hasn't found a way to pay our share other than the gas tax increase. The parking garage will be a big help to the Civic Center. The Kissimmee Commission needs to do what it takes to get the Center to be able to qualify for tourist tax funding such as marketing and future construction.

Carl, I couldn't find in the excerpt you included where Choundry claims to still be on the 192 Authority.
Did she say it somewhere else?
If not why are you saying that she is "currently" claiming membership?

@Still confused. One of our geniuses posted the wrong highlighted comment, so we've posted her entire statement and placed a couple asterisks before and after the statement.

FYI the West 192 Authority and the US192 Hotel Motel Association are different organizations.

So in her statement she didn't claim she is on the 192 Authority? Or am I missing something?

Carl, now you are just lying.
Not one person "told you it was ok Harford gave to Muslims"

You were rightfuly critisized for using Muslim is your headline for the purpose of racebaiting. Unfortunatly, instead of owning up to your shameful behavior you misquote folks in another headline.

No wonder your blog has become so irrelevent compared to Osceola Politics.

@ ANother Opinion-- I address this to you since Carl can't grasp what he did, still, even with another end-around trying to save face. It's kind of like when a politician asks if another lied and they just say, "I won't say he lied, but he/she didn't tell the truth." He did it to his own comment.

NOTICE in his latest comment he says, " Mr. Harford saw fit to give away money to a Muslim organization, and also to another organization." HE can't even bring himself to say AND the THREE KINGS in the sentence.

PLUS- note that the Muslim org. has not been proven to be a religious organization - so why not factually find that out before implying it. The Three Kings is 100% a religious org. yet he puts a ? next to it.

You also are right-- NO ONE said "so what?" IN-fact, since his negative comments were basically directed at me, I CLEARLY stated my agreement about separation of church and state, but was also CLEAR that there was a glaring hypocrisy to not comment on the 100% Three Kings. He can THINK he's smarter than us, and slick and creative with his ATTEMPTED spin, but talk about losing credibility and respect.

I hadn't been here for a long time since it seems a lot of regurgitated things, but that's OK and why I don't chime in if it's an issue I don't know of.

It is sad, he resorted to the line about others e-mailing him about me. WHEN have you ever seen people on CC keep their opinions to themselves? BUT thanks for letting me know about Osceola Politics. I don't know the conversation there, but I'll leave CC and about 5 others to have their space----- OK until I see BS and I refuse to let is stand. :)

Your all wrong. The American Muslims that Harford donated to is front by an islamic group known a CAIR which the fronted by the Muslim Brotherhood which is listed as a Terrorist Organization. I doubt that Harford even knew that when he donated because he is too damn stupid.

I am about to call him out on his China Trip. I already know the answers to questions I am submitting on a Public Records Request. He doesn't have a leg to stand on this time.

By the way, He did not catch the whale he went fihing for at our expense. You can defend him all you want but the fact is he is going doen the political toilet very shortly.

As for Ms. Peggy Choudhry, pay attention to the name Anthony Melchiorri in the near future. When you see her you might ask how many clients her consulting firm has had so far. Since her only experience in the hospitality industry is in the small Sevilla Inn I don't see how much she would have to offer. We'll see though.

Spending tax money on 3 Kings Day is no different than the governments buying Christmas trees. Politicians in the county have played a King in the local Celebration for at least 15 years.

Excellant post Bigguns, and you're spot on regarding the Muslim tribe in Osceola. They are a religious group, and tax dollars should never have gone to them, or the Hispanic group and any other religious group.

Do you advocate the City of Kissimmee ending the property lease with the Y.M.C.A. ?

Great update on your trip to China Commissioner Harford! So what did we learn?

China is polluted!
You can't use chopsticks!
Chinese like lazy susans!
China is polluted!
Two companies are interested in "maybe" talking with us!
Oh did I mention China is polluted?!
Chinese can't dress!
The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority didn't let him know what they were doing!

So my bet is Commissioner Harford's trip will generated 0% return on investment, Maria over at Experience Kissimmee will finally be shown the door after embarrassing their CEO, and one year from now Harford will have to explain to the voters why he spent their money on a free trip for himself. Really, could he have afforded this trip on his own?

Wonder if we can get a copy of this update to those he met with so they can see how undiplomatic he truly is and see how he truly operates. If it helps, we can simply let them know that his comments have nothing to do with personally as he treats the tax payers within his own district the same way.

Comment from: 2liecrew [Visitor]

@Bigguns

I think you are right! This may very well be Commissioner Harford. He always talks about transparency until it comes to him and his shady dealings. He does suffer from short-term memory. Maybe, just maybe we can bring up some less than questionable behavior/actions on his part and see if "Full Disclosure" (aka Commissioner Harford) can explain how it is simply a misunderstanding?

Or we can talk about a little money he (Commissioner Harford) is about to receive from a local politician who will filter a little bit of money directly into his campaign through a little well-known PAC. Keep an eye out for these contributions. It will simply allow this politician to continue to use Commissioner Harford as his own personal mouthpiece.

Here is an interesting little piece on the guy that heads-up this PAC: "Mr. Guetzloe appears to have some pretty strong beliefs about campaigning, including the distribution of anonymous campaign literature. He describes himself as the only person in America ever jailed for not putting a disclaimer on his political flyers. According to the Florida Department of Elections, Ax the Tax has regularly failed to file its required campaign finance reports form 2004 all the way through to the present." - The Belle Isle Sun, Saturday, March 8, 2014.

Hey there Full Disclosure, for the record he wasn't locked up for not putting a disclaimer on his political flyers, he was arrested for failing to file his tax returns.

If he cannot remember what he was locked up for, how can he send out mailers on political targets with "accurate" information?

It is completely appropriate for "Carl" to be a watchdog for Commissioner contributions to religious groups when those violate the separation of church and state.

It was completely inappropriate to present it in a way to further inflame the racism that is endemic in Osceola County.

We led the country in foreclosures in the great housing bubble of the early 21st century.

We need to do away with the power structure that yearns to lead in being bigoted against Muslims, or African Americans, or Hispanics, or whoever else the flavor of the day is who guides the core of the Osceola County racist community.

And they are the most politically powerful part of the community.
