Gant charges dropped? Council on Aging told no to request to street solicitations

We received a late afternoon email stating that ALL charges filed against FORMER Kissimmee Mayor George Gant, had been dropped. A representative for the State Attorney’s Office was heard to have said that the case kept falling behind and they had lost a lot of ground. Of course, Lawson Lamar was no where to be found. When it’s bad news he sends a messenger. Good news? He’s all over the place.

We can’t help but wonder how Mr. Lamar told all the women who had come forward that his office lost ground and couldn’t proceed with the case. We also wonder why others in the community had predicted this very outcome almost a year ago. MUST be coincidence. We also wonder if the State will look at Lamar’s office for dropping the ball. IF Mr. Gant is truly innocent, he simply faired well. Any bets if current Mayor Swan is cleaning out his Mayor’s office and inviting Mr Gant to pick up where he left off?

In other happenings around the county, Osceola Sheriff’s Office has charged two teens for a number of bomb scares recently called in. The two charged are Clarence Oday Chappell (DOB 12-28-91) and Austin J. Perez (DOB 4-5-92). Both geniuses are in juvenile justice custody.

Thanks to quick police work by Kissimmee Police Department, they were able to follow leads and track a call and catch 3 teens connected to bomb scares at Osceola High School. The three are, Cesar Lopez (DOB 6-17-92), along with Chappell and Perez mentioned above. All three remain in juvenile justice custody. What we really like is that the Kissimmee Police Department is doing the math and coming up with a total cost of what the bomb scares cost the taxpayers of Kissimmee. Once they come up with a figure, they’re looking at submitting the costs to the court for repayment.

In addition to the three bright bulbs mentioned above, another genius was arrested this morning after he placed a call making a bomb threat to the YMCA and Osceola High School. This guy was a real genius as he remained at the location he had placed the calls from and KPD was able to identify and arrest him as well.

[More:]

We want to congratulate the KPD on their outstanding efforts in solving this costly prank. We only hope the Osceola Sheriff’s Office will follow KPD’s lead and submit the costs of their responses to these scares to receive reimbursement from the kid’s families. Any judge who doesn’t go along with the requests should be ousted from office. It’s time to take back OUR community.

It’s the Holiday season and KPD officers, on Monday, walked a few parking lots within the city boundries, looking for unlocked vehicles or items of value placed out to be seen by all. In total, KPD left 289 courtesy notices to these absent minded drivers reminding them of their own responsibility in securing valuables and even their car! Come on people, we don’t live in Cowtown any longer. There’s a much broader mix of people from all over the world and a lot seem to have left their brains behind. Don’t make it easy for these punk thieves. Secure your belongings in the trunk and out of sight!!

We forgot to ment in the previous article that the Osceola Council on Aging, the ONLY group who deals with assisting our senior citizens had approached the town commission regarding doing fund raising, similar to what the fire department does. They were told no because it was unsafe. WHAT? That was a concern years ago when the firefighters began collecting money and the city manager’s office cleared it with certain rules and restrictions. Why on Earth couldn’t the same rules be applied to this very honorable group? You’d never know Jeanne “I never saw a tax or fee I didn’t like” Vanm Meter actually sits on the Council on Aging Board. Nice, Jeanne, nice. A big shame on you to you!
Meanwhile, let’s see, a trip to Tampa competition is at least $4,000.00 plus. Now, how would the citizens want their money spent, 4 grand towards the Meals on Wheels Program or on a stupid trip that will not benefit anyone in the entire county?

We look forward to making all the senior citizens in Ken Shipley’s district aware of just how deeply concerned she is for seniors in Osceola County. That goes for the other commission members who sat on their hands Tuesday night. Shame on you all!

We’d like to write more but the last item just disgusts us. The Council on Aging has broken their tails to serve the elderly community in Osceola County, yet local governments have cut their funding to the degree that they find a need to go begging for money on street corners. But the City won’t even let them do that. Disgusting!

God Bless all, be healthy, and please stay safe!
