Clear Channel & Peach close to deal, at OUR COST!

Interesting note passed on to us Friday afternoon regarding BILLBOARDS, those ugly advertising signs that do NOTHING for the people but do create blockages from the natural surroundings of our county.

Seems ol’ David Peach is proposing a comp plan change/amendment, to allow billboards to be erected on PUBLIC LAND! What kind of crap is this? A few years ago this county had the good sense to disallow the ugly billboards and pleased many, many citizens. Now, because Clear Channel wants to erect a billboard on the current Sheriff’s Building site, we’re all supposed to bow down to them and Mr. Peach?

And what’s with the County Commissioners? This item wouldn’t be coming to them unless at least three of them have already given the go ahead! SHAME on any of the County Commission who would approve this TRASH signage. And SHAME on ANY county employee who would propose to do such a rotten thing to the citizens.

IF this comp plan is approved, it just isn’t for the property at the Sheriff’s Office. Nope, it would be for signage on ALL County properties, and along Osceola Parkway! Is this what YOU, the citizens, want? The item is coming on the agenda for later in May, we’re told, possibly the 22nd, at the Planning Commission, and then on to the County Commissioners.

[More:]

The Planning Commission should say NO to this rediculous plan, and tell the foolish employee who is pushing for this to come clean and explain why he wants this deal so badly! What underlying motives could there be? Smells like another Herring Building deal which, by the way, is still NOT being used, even though we spent plenty of funds making repairs, and filing for the proper zoning with the City of Kissimmee.

How much more of this garbage are the citizens of Osceola County expected to take, and how much more added costs are we to absorb?

We would urge you, the citizens, to contact or call your county commissioners and tell them, NO to more billboards and especially NO on OUR PROPERTY!

More to come of this, we’re sure. SHAME on them.

Are you crazy!!! The Board will vote yes because they are investors in billboards!!! For at least one of them it's his primary source of income!! There's money to be made and be sure they're ready to cash in.

If you seen the work that has been started at the Sheriffs Complex, you will notice that the poles for the billboards have been left standing, and site work being completed around them, so it seems to be a done deal, maybe the revenue from the signs will let a county worker keep their job
