Another Dirt Bag Charged in Escape Attempt, KPD to Ticket Kids!

Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested and charged the below listed Dirt Bag (of course, in our opinion) in connection with the attempted jail escape this past week. Here’s a knee slapper. This dope is now represented by Attorney Jose Baez. Great work by the Sheriff’s Office. We understand there is a possibility of more action coming out of this.

Detectives Charge Additional Suspect in Inmate Attempted Escape
Osceola County – Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested another suspect involved in Angel Santiago’s attempted escape on June 22, 2009. Hector Luis Rivera is charged as principal to all of the felonies Santiago and Hung were charged with: Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Attempted Escape, Introduction of Contraband into a Detention Facility (2 counts), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Impersonating an Officer, Persons Engaged in Criminal Offenses with a Weapon and Resisting with Violence. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned about Rivera’s involvement and believe he had knowledge of and helped in the attempted escape.
On July 2, Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives conducted a search warrant at Rivera’s residence located at 13815 Fairway Island Drive, Apartment 1314 in Orlando. Detectives found evidence that linked Rivera to the attempted jail incident.
Based on the information, early this morning Rivera was booked into the Osceola County Jail. He was later transported to the Orange County Jail where he is being held. The investigation is on-going at this time.

Kissimmee Police Officers Will Begin to Issue “Tickets” to Children Caught In the Act

Kissimmee, Fla. (July 2, 2009) – Through Operation Chill®, Kissimmee Police Officers will “ticket” youngsters with Slurpee® coupons when they observe them being safe, doing a good deed or can correctly answer a safety related question.

Operation Chill® was developed by 7-Eleven to positively reward and encourage good behavior by kids during the hot summer months, when there is often an increase in loitering, shoplifting, and graffiti. The success and popularity of Operation Chill® has resulted in the program being extended beyond the summer months to a year-round tool for local law enforcement officers to use during the school year as well.

“The Kissimmee Police Department has been involved with Operation Chill® since the program’s inception in 1996,” explains department spokesperson, Stacie Miller, “our officers use the Slurpee® coupons as an ice breaker with kids. It’s a way to reward them for good deeds as well as enhance the relationship between the officers and the young people of Kissimmee.”

Each officer has different ways for the children to earn Slurpee® coupons. Some will give a child a coupon for wearing their bicycle helmet or for answering a safety related question correctly. Others require the children to bring them their report cards, or to see a passing grade on a test when school is in session.

“Operation Chill® gives our officers more opportunities to interact with the children in our area in a positive manner,” said Chief Iwanski, “It reinforces the message that parents tell their children; they can always approach a police officer.”

The Kissimmee Police Officers will begin handing out the Slurpee® coupons during the July 4th holiday and throughout the next few months while the supplies last.

More tomorrow as we continue to look at county manager and listen to loose lips around the county. Why are the Constitutional Officers unhappy with the manager? City Managers aren’t alone in having a lack of trust with this guy.

Anyone who would put their fellow officers at risk, OR, anyone else who would assist in making that risk, should be given a speedy trial, then executed. People like these are not useful for any society as they lack any loyalty. Hmmm, kind of like the county manager!
