Well, as I started to look over my proposed tax bills it looked like deja vu from last year’s taxes. All properties had gone up in their evaluation. Wait a minute there must be a mistake. With a higher value than last year one would think of higher taxes. Well not this time, it seems most of the taxing agencies went down on their rates.
There was one exception if you look a little closer. What’s the higher rate you ask? The City of St Cloud. Well even the Sentinel did an editorial on St Cloud’s Mayor Donna Hart. They ask her about lowering the mileage rate. Her answer was no way could it be lowered. It seems that even the state legislature is trying to get all cities to lower budgets by about nine percent. But not here in good old St Cloud.
Big hint here Mayor Hart, everything is slowing down. Lots of construction jobs and many other related jobs are being erased on a daily and weekly basis.
Why is it that politicians get so hard headed about growing their towns larger. They never seem to see the decline of growth? The Mayor and council had better wake up and face the music. Election time is just around the corner and many will fall by the starting line if they continue to spend our tax money without forethought.
